Direct mail works. But we don't do the kind of direct mail campaigns Intuit and Microsoft do. Our strategies are designed specifically for small software companies.

Nurture programs

We recommend developing a target list of 100-200 people who are important to you:

  • Prospects who are already in your sales cycle

  • People you would like to be prospects

  • Partners

  • Potential partners

  • Influencers

You mail them something every month: a case study, an educational article, an offer for a white paper, a press release, a letter with a special offer, or a postcard.

Since it's only 100-200 people, it's pretty easy to do the monthly mailing in-house. For the most part, you send collateral you already have, so your main cost is postage—less than $100 a month.

The people who receive your mailings have no idea that you are mailing to a small list. As far as they know, you are blanketing the industry. They get the impression that you are an important player, that you are growing your business and doing interesting things. Prospects become comfortable with your company; influencers and partners start referring business to you.

We encourage all of our clients to implement a nurture program.

Direct mail campaigns

We also develop traditional direct mail campaigns for our clients. We will obtain a mailing list, write the letter, and create any enclosures and fulfillment pieces. If landing pages are needed, we can design and implement them. We work with a mail house, so we can take care of printing and mailing for you too.

Postcards

We use AmazingMail for most of our postcard campaigns. We create the images and text needed for the front and back of the postcards. Then we upload the images and the mailing list to AmazingMail, and click send. Your mailing goes off the next day. You can send any number of postcards with very little work and no delay. It's a simple and cost-effective way to do postcard mailings.
